Having written "the burl book," and seeing hundreds (or a thousand plus) antique burl objects, this box is a remarkable anomaly—I have never seen anything quite like it and its design and execution is nothing short of masterful.

The large lift-top box has high relief-carved hearts and (anthropomorphic) anchors across the domed lid.

Carved from one block of ash burl—it is a tour-de-force of design and execution.
